Project Prompt: Marks, Forts, & Confessions
In creating my fort I hoped to create an experience in which one could escape from the chaos of everyday life and return to memories of weekends spent with loved ones. I utilized images taken by my loved ones and created lamp shades that I hoped would project the images onto the canvas. I created a telephone booth sized fort by hanging canvas from the ceiling of our critique space and hung the four lamps inside. The space created was all encompassing and blocked all outside experiences. Materials used in this project include ink on mylar, canvas drop clothes, decorative light bulbs, workshop lamps, wooden rods, and embroidery hoops.
