Dara’s Fort

For the second project I took the prompt of fort in a literal sense where I created a space that can be physically entered. I created my fort as a space that conveys feelings of loss and is related to shrines and memorials. I created this fort as a space that one person enters alone and does so by kneeling, which is ritualistic and personal. Within the fort there are handmade materials, as well as machine made materials that I also affected by hand. I touched every material in the process of making, which I found important in creating the senses of mementos of a person who passed away. When people enter the fort I also want everyone to touch and experience the materials, so that they also feel the emotions behind remembrance and loss.
